START PACKING!

Below is a list of some items that you may need, to help you prepare for your first weekend at Dystopia Rising: Indiana.

  • Water. Invest in a decent water bottle or canteen, something that you can scuff up. Dystopia Rising is sometimes a very physically active game, and we can not stress hydration enough. HAIL HYDRATE.

  • Food. Along with proper meals, we recommend bringing trail mix, fruits and veggies, and/or energy bars to help keep your body going.

  • Hygiene Supplies. Unless you live close, you will likely be running around and sweating a lot over the course of the weekend. We also happen to have fantastic bathroom and shower facilities! Be sure to bring shampoo/conditioner, a toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, and other hygiene supplies. Keeping clean at game helps prevent post-game illnesses.

  • Genre Appropriate Clothing and LAYERS. Soon, we will have videos for tips on distressing your clothing. In the meantime, some helpful tips for making clothing appropriate for genre include fraying seams, using fake blood for stains, (carefully) ripping shirts and pants, using patches, and layering various mismatched pieces. We also STRONGLY RECOMMEND bringing plenty of socks. Don’t forget the thermal layers in the cold months!

  • Black Clothing. Everybody has an NPC shift, where you will step into various roles to create the non-player characters that the player characters interact with and fight. We ask that you arrive at your NPC shift in black clothing with no visible logos.

  • Sleeping Gear. Everyone has to sleep sometime! PLEASE sleep sometime! With that said, it’s a good idea to bring a sleeping bag rated for the season/weather or other blankets and pillows to sleep with. Making sure you get sleep at game keeps you healthy and helps to prevent post-game illness.

  • Red Flashlight. It gets dark at night, and this makes some parts of the site hard to see. For safety reasons, we ask that you bring a red lens flashlight. The red light prevents night blindness while still ensuring that you don’t get injured while walking in the dark.
